Ken, Teresa, Dunc, "Whitty", and Pat
Dunc and Pat Haynes are proud of Whitford's top notch wine making team. Since 1997, Ken Bernards, formerly with Trouchard, has been making award winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and since 2002, Syrah for Whitford. Ken's wife, Teresa, formerly with Domaine Carneros, ably assists. Rob Fischer joined the team in July of 2004 after receiving an enology degree from Fresno State.
For harvest, when things really get hectic, Ken hires an intern from the "Communicating For Agriculture Exchange Program". So far we've been charmed by eager, hard workers from Spain and Chile.
All work together to create the fine wines of Whitford Cellars.
Great wines begin with great grapes. Our vineyard team consists of Dunc and Pat, Fernando Delgado, Ken Bernards and Ann Kraemer. The Haynes family feels very fortunate to have Fernando as vineyard manager. With love and attentive care, he has been capably supervising the vineyard operations since the early 1970's. He knows every inch of the vineyard!
Winemaker Ken Bernards is very knowledgeable about the growing of grapes as well as the making off wine and can often be seen walking the vineyard to check on the vines progress throughout the growing season. His vineyard advice is always welcome and usually heeded!
